Dissolution of Delhi Assembly – Re-Election in Jan-Feb

New Delhi, Tuesday. The Union Cabinet approves the dissolution of Delhi Assembly on request of Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung. With this dissolution Delhi will now face re-elections.

On Monday Najeeb Jung, Lieutenant Governor spoke to BJP as they were single largest party in the Delhi, BJP said that their party is not able to form the government as they don’t have magic number of 35 seats to claim the leadership, party also said that they do not want any support from other parties and nor even interested in horse-trading.Therefore we want re-elections in Delhi. Jung also met Congress leaders to know if they are able to form the government, but congress was also interested in re-election in Delhi. On the other hand AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia also met Najeeb Jung and said that their stand is very clear from last 8 months that we want re-elections in Delhi.

Lieutenant Governor Submitted The Report

On Tuesday, After meeting all the party leaders and exploring all the aspects to form Government in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor submitted the report to president in which he requested to dissolve the Delhi assembly and appealed for fresh elections.

President Pranab Mukherjee had forwarded the report to Union Cabinet and Cabinet members has approved the L.G’s Request of dissolving the assembly now it is sure that Delhi will undergo Legislative Assembly Elections.

Elections date in Delhi 2014

The Election commission of India will announce the fresh elections date. However, On 25th November there are by-elections in three constituencies, if Election commission gives the dates between Jan-feb then By-elections could be scrapped.
