A weekend getaway to Bhimtal Uttarakhand

The place is an ideal destination for those who want to avoid crowds and lose themselves in nature. It is a lesser known beauty overshadowed by other crowded destinations in Kumaon region. I visited the place with my friends on a long weekend, a week ago. I didn’t find many things to explore in Bhimtal, so three days looked enough to roam around the place. For staying in Bhimtal, you have many options for hotels and homestays around the lake, or if you prefer a less crowded place then opt for hotels or homestays uphill.

The place is famous for the Bhimtal Lake, which is the largest lake in the entire Nainital district. Bhimtal in Uttarakhand is a major tourist destination located at a distance of 23 km from Nainital. Bhimtal is situated at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level, the beauty of Bhimtal attracts tourists immensely. The lake is encircled by mountains and has a small island in the middle of the lake, which was earlier a restaurant and now an aquarium. The aquarium has a large variety of fishes from different countries. It is the only destination to visit in Bhimtal other than the lake. If you want to visit the aquarium, you can hire a boat from the lake which will take you to the island, wait there till you finish exploring the aquarium and then bring you back. While visiting the lake, you will also find few adventurous activities like water zorbing and paragliding to attract tourist. If you are a foodie, then Bhimtal also have a lot of beautiful cafes offering delicious food.

For me, the place has an engrossing beauty and nice cafes which attracted me to visit the place. If you want to get lost in nature and rejuvenate your soul after a hectic work life, then visit the place on a weekend.
